Coffee Partner · Version 1.0 — last updated: 27 September 2026
1. In short
Coffee Partner is for tracking your caffeine intake. To do that, the app records what you drink and when. That is health data, and it is treated as such: it is used only to show you your own figures, and it is never passed to an advertiser or used to target an ad.
What we do not do: we do not sell any data and we do not trade it with data brokers. Your caffeine intake is never used to choose which ads you see.
What never leaves your phone: pregnancy, any declared heart condition, your weight and your height. These four details are used to work out your daily benchmark, and that calculation happens entirely inside the app. They are sent to nobody — not even to us.
2. Who is responsible for this data
The data controller is Jean-Baptiste Loze, 535 Sentier Vert, 06450 Saint-Martin-Vésubie, France.
For any question or request about your data: contact@coffeepartner.app.
3. What is recorded, and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| E-mail address and password | To create your account and recognise you across devices. The password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it. | Performance of a contract |
| Username, profile picture | To identify you to the people you invite for a coffee break. | Performance of a contract |
| Caffeine intake: drink type, estimated milligrams, date and time | The core of the app: your log, your averages, your plan and your badges. | Explicit consent (health data) |
| Self-declared health details: pregnancy, heart risk,
weight, height — kept on your device only |
To adjust your daily benchmark and the advice given. They are never sent to our servers: the calculation happens inside the app. The deliberate trade-off: they do not follow you from one phone to another. | Explicit consent (health data) |
| Location | To sort nearby coffee shops by distance, and to confirm you are actually there when checking in at a partner shop (250 m radius). Location is used at that moment; no location history is kept. | Consent (system permission) |
| Invitations, messages, groups, nudges between friends | The social features. Your messages are visible to their recipient. | Performance of a contract |
| Usage statistics (screens opened, actions) | To understand what is useful and what is not, and improve the app. | Legitimate interest / consent depending on region |
| Device advertising identifier | To display ads. Only if you have agreed in the consent screen — otherwise advertising stays non-personalised. | Consent |
Demo mode
If the app is used without a connection to our servers (demo mode), all of this stays in your device's local storage and goes nowhere. It is stored in the clear, unencrypted: this mode is meant for trying the app out, not for long-term use with sensitive data.
4. Who it is shared with
We neither sell nor rent any data. We use the following providers, solely to run the service:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) — hosting of your account and data, acting as a processor. Firebase privacy
- Google Analytics 4 — audience measurement. Google privacy
- Google AdMob — ad delivery, and collecting your advertising consent. How AdMob works
- Partner shops — recipe links open a retailer's website. From that click onward, the retailer's privacy policy applies, not ours. Some of these are affiliate links: a purchase may earn us a commission, at no change to your price.
These providers may process data outside the European Union. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it (court order, legal obligation).
5. Advertising: what is and is not used
The app shows two kinds of placement:
- partner coffee shop cards, chosen by us and identical for everyone: no personal data goes into selecting them;
- Google AdMob ads. Where the law requires it (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, certain US states), a consent screen appears on first launch. You can change your choice at any time under You → Privacy → Ad preferences.
No health data is passed to the ad network. Not your caffeine intake, not your weight, not any declared heart risk. That limit is written into the application's code, not left to a setting — and for the four details named above it is stronger still, since they never leave the device.
6. How long it is kept
- Log and profile: for as long as your account exists. A caffeine log is only useful over time — that is what lets you compare one month with the next.
- Self-declared health details: on your device, for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app erases them.
- Location: for the duration of the calculation, not stored.
- Usage statistics: at most 14 months, per the Google Analytics setting.
- After account deletion: erased within 30 days, apart from technical backups purged within 90 days.
7. Your rights
At any time you can:
- view and correct your details from the You tab;
- delete a log entry from the Log tab;
- withdraw your consent to advertising (You → Privacy) or to location (phone settings);
- request deletion of your account and all associated data, or a copy of your data, by writing to contact@coffeepartner.app. We reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with your country's data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.
8. Children
Coffee Partner is not intended for people under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you find that a child has created an account, write to us and it will be deleted.
9. Security
Traffic to our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) and access to data is restricted by server-side security rules. No system is infallible: in the event of a data breach likely to create a risk to your rights, we will inform you and notify the competent authority within the statutory deadlines.
10. The app is not a medical device
The caffeine figures shown are orders of magnitude: they vary with the grind, the dose and the machine. Benchmarks and advice are informational and do not replace a health professional's opinion. For a medical question — pregnancy, heart rhythm disorder, ongoing treatment — see a doctor.
11. Changes
Any significant change to this document will be announced in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of the page shows the last revision.
